Wow. Why is it that the shittest, smallest tattoos always have these big fuckin’ boring stories to go along with them?
Here’s some friendly advice if you’re planning a tattoo:
If you have to explain it, it’s no good.
Here’s the photo my first tattoo that I got on my eighteenth birthday. It reads living is easy with eyes closed, from the Beatles’ song “Strawberry Fields Forever”. It is written in each of my family member’s handwriting; my dad wrote “living is”, my sister wrote “easy with”, and my mom wrote “eyes closed”. The Beatles and the quote itself mean a lot to me, but the fact that my family wrote it means even more.
I asked my family to write the quotes in a notebook for me without them knowing what it was for, and I showed the tattoo artist. They still don’t know I have it. It will be a nice surprise for them one day.
